Newborn Photographer Bromley

Being asked back to photograph a family for their second newborn photoshoot is always something that feels incredibly special. Knowing that they must truly love their photographs from our first photoshoot together so much that they have asked me back to do it all again is a wonderful feeling.

For our second newborn photography session, when I returned to their home it was like being greeted by old friends! We had lots to catch up on and it was amazing to see how they were getting along as a family.

There is an added ease to these sessions and ultimately a trust between us. A trust that comes when you have worked with a family before and created photographs that they treasure. I love returning to carry on recording their family journey and to add to their much loved gallery of family portraits.

Newborn & sibling photography at home

When photographing a newborn baby with an older sibling the timing and organisation of the photoshoot is key. Before our at home newborn photography session I will discuss the best time of day with the parents to ensure I can fit in with their normal routine and arrive at a time of day that is ultimately best for their eldest child. before the photoshoot I will provide plenty of tips and advice to help everything run smoothly.

It is also worth noting that these photoshoots do take longer than a single newborn photography session as I will allow extra time for the additional shots. As well as all the usual time for the newborn photographs I would normally take.

Do you charge extra to include sibling portraits?

No I don’t. I actually include parent and family portraits and even additional members of the family without any additional charge. I have one standard fee for newborn photography and family photoshoots. This fee is for my time and I don’t add on extra even when the photoshoot will take more time.

How long will our photoshoot take?

Well this will depend on your new baby of course! It is impossible to predict how long the photoshoot will take as there are many factors involved. I don’t like to rush. For this reason I only book one newborn photoshoot per day. This will allow me to work around you as a family without the pressure of rushing off to my next photoshoot.

On average I would say allow three hours for a newborn photography session.

Do you cover all of London?

I am very happy to travel and I currently cover London, Surrey, Essex and Kent. I have photoshoots regularly in Bromley, Chislehurst, Beckenham, Greenwich, Blackheath, Dulwich, Brockley, Lewisham, Orpington, Sidcup, Croydon, Sevenoaks, Clapham, Wandsworth, Battersea, Balham, Pimlico, London Bridge, Bermondsey, Kensington, Chelsea, Islington, Westminster, Hampstead, Primrose Hill, Notting Hill, Camden, Maida Vale, Marylebone, Knightsbridge, Woolwich, Mitcham, Oxshott and many more areas.

Dulwich Baby Photographer

Sometimes you just need a good game of “peekaboo!”. Photographing babies is a joy at any stage. I think that there are a multitude of times that are perfect to have professional photographs of your baby and family. As a Dulwich Baby Photographer I am often travelling around South East London visiting the homes of families to capture special moments like these. My aim is to ensure that your photoshoot at home is effortless for you and your family.

I cover most areas of London, Surrey and Kent and I’m always happy to discuss what you would like from your family photoshoot with you.

This baby stole my heart at our photoshoot in Dulwich. How absolutely adorable are these baby photographs together?! I actually put these on facing pages in the album I designed for the family. I loved the final look of them together.

As much as I love digital images and fully encourage all my clients to have these I also always recommend putting your pictures into an album and framing them around the home. There is nothing that compares to beautiful quality prints in a handmade family album or carefully crafted frames. Special pictures deserve a special place.

What I love about these baby portraits is that they capture a very special moment. The scrunched up little fists covering his face and the surprised look that follows! Absolutely beautiful and the detail in black and white is stunning.

For these portraits I used my Nikon D810 with a 50mm lens. I used softbox lighting with a reflector to create a natural light that gently lights the baby in a natural way.

Baby & family studio Photography at home

I like bringing my studio to the homes of the families I photograph for so many reasons. I love the control it gives me to create a photography studio anywhere with beautiful results. As I don’t need to rely on natural light I can produce the same quality baby and family photographs where-ever I go. I am also not reliant on the weather which is very useful in London city! But not only that it means each baby photoshoot I do can be in a controlled and comfortable environment. This in my opinion is essential to keep baby warm and relaxed during the session.

When should I photograph my baby?

This is a question I am asked a lot and I’m pleased to say there is no wrong time! Whenever you choose to have baby and family portraits the results will be truly unique and reflect that moment in time. I love creating galleries throughout the first year as this is a beautiful way to document the changes in your new baby.

Mother and Baby Photography Hampstead Heath

Mother and Baby Photography Hampstead Heath

Mother & baby photography Hampstead Heath London.

I have been photographing beautiful Mum and her family since their first baby was born 4 years ago. As you can imagine it was such a delight to return to photograph their new baby girl. What I have loved about these photoshoot the most is getting to know the family. Each time the grandparents have been present for the photoshoot and so I have been able to photograph three generations in one portrait. This is always something I love to do and feel is incredibly important.

Without a doubt my mother and baby portraits are equally important. As a Mum I am often finding that I am not in the pictures and this is a comment I hear from other Mums all too often. We are so busy capturing the moment for our children and being behind the camera that we often forget to put ourselves in there too!

I’m often asked if family portraits are included with my baby photography sessions. The answer is always! Photographing parents with their children and everyone all together is very much a part of every family photoshoot I do.

Mother & Baby Photography Hampstead Heath

In celebration of Mothers Day of course which is just a week away. I chose these two mother & baby portraits for my blog to show the different feel created with the black & white image verses the colour image. Both are stunning and both were chosen by the family. I like to mix black & white portraits with colour and especially when designing albums as I think they work beautifully together. Each has a very different feel and I love that.

100 day baby photography

I am often asked to do 100 day photoshoots for my Clients. Something that I have learnt is a very old tradition. I love these sessions and I’m always happy to help with arrangements for your 100 day baby photoshoot at home. Mother and baby, father and baby, grandparent and family portraits are all included!

Newborn Photography Canary Wharf

A  newborn photography session in Canary Wharf is always a treat.  I have photographed many families in Canary wharf over the years. For maternity portraits, newborn photography, family portraits and older baby photoshoot sessions. The scale of the buildings is striking. Canary Wharf evolves and changes each time I visit. There is often something new that perhaps I haven’t seen before or has been added since my last visit.

I am treated to the best views during these sessions as many of the families I photography have striking apartments with panoramic London views.I am sure I spend the first part of each photography session just gazing at the view.

As a London baby and family photographer I get to travel to all corners of this great city and beyond. I still get a thrill when driving over Tower Bridge or across the river to Westminster.

Grandparent Portraits

I’ve chosen a beautiful moment between a mother, her daughter and her new grandchild for this post. I love the energy between them in this portrait. Their interaction, the fun between them and their relationship in one photograph. I am so happy that they felt relaxed with me during the session which allowed me to capture sucha. special moment.

Can Grandparents be included in our newborn photoshoot?

This is a question I am asked all the time. The answer is 100% yes!

To see three generations of one family in one portrait is a real gift. I believe that these photographs will be treasured for a lifetime and passed down through the generations of each family I photograph. I always think of the life of the photographs I’ve taken after I’ve taken them. Where will they be in the world? Which home?

As a London photographer many of my Client’s come from all corners of the world which of course means that often the Grandparents have travelled to be with their children and look after them during this special time. To be asked to capture this moment and the relationship between a family is a wonderful privilege.

Baby Photography in Forest Hill London

A wonderful Baby Photography session in Forest Hill London

Travelling to the leafy corners of Forest Hill for a baby photography session was full of memories for me. When I moved to London many years ago I settled in South East London. Mostly because my sister had attended Camberwell University of Arts and was already living in Nunhead. So this was the beginning of my London journey!

Little did I know then that my Grandparents were born and raised in Lewisham and so I was in fact returning to my routes. I also didn’t know that my sister and I would in the future have our babies in Lewisham. In a way we came full circle back to our london routes and walk in the footsteps of our family before us. It is funny how things work out!

Whenever I have a photoshoot in South East London there are always many precious memories for me. Particularly in Forest Hill and the surrounding areas.

When travelling to my Forest Hill baby photography session I drove past the incredible Horniman Museum. If you know Forest Hill then you will without a doubt know this iconic building and the stunning gardens around it. I have spent countless days there with my children over the years. It is fantastic. I feel like we have explored every corner but I could do it again and again without ever getting bored!

Arriving at my Baby Photography Session in Forest Hill

On this occasion though I was not in Forest Hill to see the Walrus or visit the aquarium! I was there to photograph a very sweet newborn baby and his family. As always with my newborn baby photoshoots I was arriving at the home of the family with my portable studio. It also happened to be one of the hottest days of the year and so I was grateful that they had blissful air-conditioning in their beautiful Forest Hill home!

I’ve chosen one picture from this baby photoshoot to share with you today. I think it shows just how wonderfully peaceful he was throughout our photoshoot! We even managed to get a fabulous picture with the family Husky at the end!

Kind Words

” We had a newborn shoot with Elle when our son was a few weeks old following a bad experience with another photographer. Elle was amazing from the start; kind, calm, patient, professional and clearly a pro at what she does. We proceeded to have an amazing shoot and she has provided us with absolutely stunning photographs that we will treasure forever! Cannot recommend Elle enough (and have recommended her to friends who have used her and been over the moon with her work) and will 100% be using her for future shoots.”
