Christmas Gift Ideas

Christmas Gift Ideas

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in our home. I love this time of year. Yesterday we put up our daughters Christmas angel and this morning there was much excitement as she opened door number 1!

This year I’m trying to be thoughtful with my Christmas shopping. I’m buying local as much as possible and choosing independent designers and artists. It is much more personal to choose gifts in this was and I like to think I’m helping some one along the way.

There are quite a few on my list but I must give a little mention to the fantastic & unique illustrations by Heavens to Betsy

These pictures have really captured my imagination. Nancy Ellis, creator, founder and artist has a truly original style. She has also cleverly created a series of Christmas cards featuring local landmarks for South East London such as Greenwich Park, The Rivoli Ballrooms, Brokley Christmas markets and the Brockley Jack Theatre. It’s so nice to send a Christmas card that reflects the area you live in. Especially ones that are so beautifully made and presented. Cards can be purchased from her website or by contacting Nancy through her facebook page.

As if all of this wasn’t enough you can also create a bespoke illustration as a gift for your loved ones. send Nancy your favourite photograph of your family and she will lovingly create a one off illustration of that picture. Such a wonderful gift for any member of the family. (please visit the website for details: www.heavenstobetsy.co.uk)

I’ll be adding more local and charity websites on the lead up to Christmas. I think it’s always nice to have fresh ideas.

What a beautiful winters day! Bright sunshine, crisp cold air and a dusting of frost on the garden! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for snow this Christmas. As much as I know it does cause a huge disruption, it would be so magical for the children.

I’m heading out to do a private viewing with one of my lovely Clients this morning. I always look forward to these meetings. It’s the perfect opportunity to review the images from the session and find out which ones are their favourites. I like to offer as much help as possible. I know new parents have such limited free time and it can make the world of difference to have a little help. Even just allocating a time to sit down to choose the correct pictures is a a big help.

Before I head out I thought I’d share one more portrait from my family photography session in Westminster. It was lovely to return and see this handsome little boy at the weekend. Captured here at nearly 5 years old, he is now just about to turn 6! Our session was like a dream yesterday. He and his sister were very excited to have me at their home again to photograph them. He was even helping to direct the photoshoot and lined up all of his toys in height order for their portraits. Absolutely adorable and a true star to photograph.

I can’t wait to edit their pictures and share some more with you.

I’m also preparing some pictures of my new stylish gift vouchers.Ready for Christmas delivery! I hope to have these ready to share on my blog tomorrow evening.

Pregnancy Photography Session Battersea

Pregnancy Photography Session Battersea

I’m heading off to Battersea this morning for a Pregnancy Photography session and I’m pulling some inspiration from this beautiful bump shoot.

Each session is so unique and I love meeting my Clients to capture their bump to baby journey for them. It is wonderful to celebrate pregnancy in this way. I always hope that my sessions not only provide a lasting memory of this time but are also an enjoyable experience for my Clients

A pregnancy session typically lasts two hours and in this time we will include a variety of shots. Using my professional studio we will use different fabrics for pregnancy portraits, couple shots and just the bump shots. I’m also very open to including any ideas, even pets on occasion! It’s not an uncommon request.

As I write this I’m laughing to myself, I have one hand on my laptop typing and one reading a book to my little two year old. Motherhood can be a juggle sometimes but it is wonderful. I wouldn’t change any of it for the world. I like to give my little ones my full attention but it isn’t always possible so you learn how to juggle and make the most of the minutes that you have. The days are long. We start early in our house but never have there been so many laughs! (and tears!)

I am very lucky, I have a supportive team around me helping make all of this possible. I’m hugely grateful and especially to my husband, my number one support.

I’ll be sharing more shots from recent sessions soon. As many of my recent sessions are being dispatched to family and friends as Christmas gifts I don’t want to spoil the surprise with any sneak peaks!

I also have some beautiful new photography gift voucher sets ready for Christmas. I’ll be adding pictures of these when I have the time but please do get in touch for details. Either via my booking page or gift voucher page.

I’m in love with these two pictures from one of my recent newborn photography sessions in London Bridge.

The sweetest little smile crept across his face just as I clicked the shutter. It’s wonderful when this happens. He was in such a beautiful deep sleep, you can tell by his peaceful expression. The pixie hat frames his face just perfectly.

I’ve had a lovely week this week. Traveling across London for several newborn photography sessions as well as a beautiful 5 month baby session yesterday. After newborns this is my next favourite stage to photograph. At 5 months all the beaming smiles and giggles are there. It’s a fun and adorable age to capture. Yesterday we timed the session just perfectly. I arrived to set up before the baby had woken from her afternoon nap. This allowed us plenty of time when she woke up well rested and in good spirits to capture those precious smiles.

It is important at this age to keep the session relatively short. Babies have a short attention span and get tired quickly. We made time for plenty of outfit changes and incorporated family pictures alongside her baby portraits.

I’ll be adding some more pictures from my baby photography sessions to my blog soon.

If you would like to see some examples of older baby sessions please see the baby & children section on my website here.

I’m more than happy to discuss any specific details of your family, baby or newborn photography session. Please don’t hesitate to contact me via my ‘make a booking enquiry’ page. I am often on location at photoshoots during the day but I always aim to reply within 24 hours.

Newborn Photography, Maida Vale

I’m looking forward to revisiting one of my pregnancy portrait session Clients in Maida Vale today to meet their new arrival for their newborn baby session.

Capturing the full journey from pregnancy to the baby arriving onto their 6 month and one year milestones is one of the most rewarding parts of the photography that I do, I love being part of that journey and creating lasting memories for the parents and their families.

Today is a frosty winter day and I’m starting to tick off the days left until Christmas! I haven’t left myself much time inbetween photoshoots for shopping and I also need to squeeze my own family portrait session in to give our parents up to date portraits of us and Bessie – there really is never enough time!

I hope you like this portrait taken at a recent newborn photography session in West Hampstead, I’m just putting the finishing touches to the order now – I think this will make a lovely Christmas present!

Baby photographer in Notting Hill, London

What a beautiful Autumn day it is today. I love this time of year when the leaves start to turn golden and the sunlight is still warm.

It’s been a very busy few weeks with lots of maternity and baby photography sessions across London. I’ve just finished putting the final touches to the order for this newborn portrait session which I did recently in Notting Hill.

This gorgeous soft hat was actually passed down from daddy to this sleepy little one and it fits perfectly! I was very happy to visit this family for their newborn portrait session, even though their little girl was 4 weeks at the time of our session she was still sleepy enough for me to settle for these lovely portraits.
