Baby Photographer Clapham London
Hi All,
What better way to start the Easter bank holiday weekend then with this gorgeous little one. Photographs from a recent newborn photography session in Clapham. The follow on to the last pregnancy pictures I posted. Meet their new arrival!
Isn’t he a perfect little button. The newborn stage is so fleeting that I love to capture them cradled on their parents arm. This week I returned to see one of my newborn Client’s and their baby is now 4 months old. We marvelled at her newborn pictures and how she had fitted the length of their arm with her head in neatly in their palm. Now a gorgeous bouncy baby and so robust. They had quite forgotten just how small she was. As a parent you spend so much time in the moment it is wonderful to look back and be reminded of how fragile they were.
Cuddled up with a tiny toy that is half the size of them but will soon fit in their hand. Cradling their tiny toes in the centre of your hands. Having their tiny fingers wrap around yours. All these precious moments that we will hold dear forever.
It gives me a great feeling of purpose to capture these moments. I know how much they will be treasured by their parents.
I hope you are all enjoying the start to the bank holiday weekend! We have the perfect weather for a change and so much happening in London. For the first time in years my family and I are staying in town and enjoying every moment. There is so much to see that we normally miss by being away. The Tall ships in Greenwich this weekend, meeting up with friends for picnics and egg rolling down telegraph hill! I’m so happy to have this special time with my family.
I also have some lovely newborns to photograph in-between my family time this Easter. I do love all the Spring arrivals. Yesterday I photographed a beautiful newborn baby boy in Bermondsey. Just 10 days old! It was so nice to see them all again. The last time I met them was for their pregnancy photography session. It was a pleasure to hear the story of their little ones arrival and to take his first pictures. Sharing in those first joyous moments with them all.
I’ll be adding some more pictures from this and other session’s very soon.
In the meantime wishing you all a very happy Easter in the sunshine!

Pregnancy Photographer, Hammersmith, West London
I’m sharing one from this lovely pregnancy photoshoot in Hammersmith. One of my pregnancy and newborn portrait session’s. My all time favourite photography packages!
I am always chatting away to my Clients during their photoshoot. We talk about everything from our different pregnancy experiences to preparing for labour and what to expect when your baby arrives. I love hearing their stories and sharing my experience as a mother. It also means that we laugh a lot and I love it when I capture a natural relaxed smile like this.
This shot has a beautiful feel to it, I think she looks so happy and confident. I love black & white photography for so many reasons. Using my studio background at my clients homes removes distracting background so that you focus completely on the subject. The results are calm and romantic portraits that celebrate this incredible time. Lighting is also very important and I love to use soft, flattering studio light. I bring everything with me and adapt the set up to the space I am in. All London homes vary in size and space and I have learnt to create the perfect studio in the smallest and largest of rooms.
One of the key aspects for me is making sure everyone on the photoshoot feels comfortable and relaxed. Photography should be fun and it is a wonderful luxury to have professional shots taken in your home. By making sure that my Client’s don’t have to travel and can prepare for our photoshoot at home I know that they are in the most familiar setting for our session. I think this is important for pregnancy, newborn, baby and family photography sessions.
Pregnancy photography sessions always take place at between 32 – 36 weeks. These sessions are best booked as far in advance as possible. I usually recommend as soon as possible after your 20 week scan. For a full brochure you can contact me via the ‘make a booking’ page.

Just sharing the one picture today from my Newborn Photography Primrose Hill, North London session.
I’m really enjoying the subtle tone of this picture. Using my new super soft, fine knit backdrop for newborns. It has exactly the soft and natural finish I was hoping for. Not forgetting of course that this beautiful little one is the perfect newborn model! A dream to photograph throughout our session, the camera really doesn’t lie!
I use the softest fabrics for newborn sessions. Taking care to hand wash each item with sensitive non-biological washing powder. There is a lot of care and attention taken to prepare for each session. This all helps to ensure that your baby is comfortable and safe throughout their portrait session.
I use a professional newborn photography posing studio. Especially designed so that I can transport it easily to my clients homes. While I set up the studio it allows time for the baby to be fed and soothed ready for our session. Each newborn photoshoot takes between 3 – 4 hours. Due to the sensitivity of these sessions I only book one per day. This ensures that I am never pushed for time or rushing to my next photoshoot. You have me until all the shots you would like to achieve have been taken.
These are without a doubt my favourite portrait sessions to do. My most popular package is the pregnancy and newborn photography package. It is so wonderful to capture the before and after. It is also one of the greatest honours to be one of the first to receive ‘that call’ or first message from the hospital. I am privileged to be one of the first to meet the new arrival and take their first official portraits.
Booking is advised as early as possible to ensure I can fit you in around your due date. Dates do go very quickly but there are occasionally last minute spaces if my sessions are moved due to illness etc.

London Baby Photography, Islington Session
Oh hello Baby face! I can’t stop looking at this beautiful beaming smile! Captured during a baby photography in Islington.
Baby portrait sessions are ideally scheduled for between 5 – 8 months. This is when you can really see their personalities starting to develop. At this stage babies are much more robust and able to respond to games we play during the photoshoot. The part that you can’t see in this picture is all the singing, clapping, silly face pulling and noise making to coax out this lovely smile! It was certainly worth all the effort. I often encourage parents to be right beside me whilst I take the shot. As soon as they see mummy or daddy pulling a silly face or making a sound that is familiar to them that’s when I get the best smiles!
The first year of your child’s life is full of major developments. It is incredible how much they change and wonderful to capture all of those milestones. The cute baby stage is so short, before you know it they are crawling and exploring. This changes your life in a whole new way not to mention your home! I time my sessions to fit around your little ones schedule. I always ask for the best time of day and when they nap to ensure we get the most out of the session and catch them at their happiest time of day.
I am often in Islington for my family & baby photography sessions. Many of my Clients I have worked with since pregnancy and return to photograph their growing family. It is always a treat to be back in one of my favourite London locations. I love the canal, the antiques market and of course the wonderful Union Chapel where I have seen many incredible performances over the years. I have so many fond memories in this part of town. If possible I like to make time after each session to revisit some of my favourite cafes and shops. I also bring my children to many of the fantastic family events that take place throughout the year.
If I’m looking for inspiration for one of our family trips the Islington Mums website is a great starting point. Full of local tips for family events and cafes plus a family discount card for locals http://www.islingtonmums.co.uk/
We have seen opera for children by the canal in the summer and lots of shows at the Sadlers Wells theatre – there is always plenty to keep the little ones entertained.

Family Photography Putney
Easter is coming and I just love this shot of this little girl hugging her favourite bunny. She was so in love with this soft little bunny and barely let it go throughout the entire photoshoot.
I wanted to capture that beautiful moment and she held onto it so sweetly for this picture. This lovely family photography session took place at my Clients home in Putney. I have photographed them many times over the years and it is always lovely to return and see how the children have changed. It’s so nice to be welcomed back and to capture some more special moments for their family gallery.
Easter holidays have started for many across the country. I love this time of year and it looks as though the welcome sunshine has arrived just in time for the holidays. I’ve been enjoying watching my two run and play in the garden all weekend. They have been out from early morning until dusk. I love seeing them get all that fresh air and exercise. The start of Spring and the celebration of all things new! I love the tree blossom and the beautiful spring flowers that have started to poke their little heads above the service. The buds on the trees and the dawn chorus from the many birds in our garden. Everything and everyone is emerging from winter hibernation.
I’ve been booking in many Easter family photography sessions these past few weeks. I love the special occasion of these photoshoots. All the family together in their best dress for their annual portraits. These sessions also make beautiful and unique Easter gifts for those who would like to receive something extra special. My gift packages also include a set of delicious organic Green & Black chocolates just perfect for Easter. To order your gift package simply fill in your requirements on my ‘make a booking enquiry’ page.

Pregnancy Photography Dulwich
A beautiful pregnancy portrait session in Dulwich. I just love this shot, capturing that perfect window of time before you meet your baby. The third trimester is full of so many mixed emotions, especially if you are expecting your first baby. There has been the journey of pregnancy and all the preparation for the birth. Now it is time to relax and wait for your little one to arrive.
If you are having your baby naturally it can seem like the day will never happen! Both of mine were two weeks late. I did everything I could, all the classics such as drink raspberry leaf tea, eat pineapple, walk up hills, eat spicy curry, have reflexology (which was wonderful by the way!) and still my little ones refused to budge! I am sure most of these tips are given to us ‘Mums to be’ to make us think we are in someway still in control and can do something to help things along.
At the end of the day it is very rare that your baby will arrive on his or her due date. My daughter arrived promptly the day before I was booked in for my induction (13 days late). My son needed a little help and I had to be induced (14 days late). He was a very big boy though! I’m eternally grateful that they were both born safely and cared for expertly by the wonderful nhs hospital staff. It isn’t until you are in hospital or a birth centre in labour that you completely appreciate the incredible life saving work that doctors, surgeons, midwives and nurses perform every day.
After 9 months of waiting there is no greater joy than meeting your baby for the first time. It is a feeling that all parents know and share. It is a privilege for me to be a small part of that journey and capture a little bit of that time for the families I work with.
I hope you enjoy this sneak peak at from this lovely pregnancy photoshoot.
