It’s Friday already and this week seems to have zipped by! I’m packing up my bags and preparing to travel to Battersea this morning for a lovely older baby photography session and have a couple of minutes to myself whilst Andy drops the children up at school & nursery to update my blog (and have a coffee!).
I had a wonderful newborn photography session in stunning London bridge, at this families beautiful home just by Borough market, one of my favourite London markets! This gorgeous little girl was just under two weeks old and it was wonderful to be one of the first to meet her.
Her family booked their newborn session with me well in advance to ensure they could capture these precious moments. I usually recommend booking your pregnancy and newborn photography session with me as soon as possible after your 20 week scan to make sure that a time period can be reserved for your newborn session and your maternity portrait session date can be arranged for between 34 – 36 weeks. I do occasionally have last minute spaces available so if you haven’t pre-booked it is worth checking as if I can fit you in I will.

Returning to see my Clients year after year to capture their children as they grow is one of the best parts of my job and I was lucky enough to revisit this beautiful family at their home near Canary Wharf to celebrate their little girl turning one with a Family & Baby photography session.
With their best dresses on these two sisters were such a delight to photograph, they had lots of fun in my pop up studio which with it’s clever design fitted perfectly into their lounge and I was pleased to catch plenty of their charming giggles on camera. Their eldest little girl is the same age as my daughter and we enjoyed chatting about all her favourite Disney characters and what it’s like to be a big sister. She was a fantastic help and so grown up!

Black & White Newborn Photography Session in Old Street / Islington.

It was so lovely to return to see this family and welcome their beautiful newborn baby boy into the world with his very first pictures.
We first met a few years ago when a work colleague of Mum’s purchased a ‘pregnancy & newborn’ gift voucher as a maternity leave present and so I was lucky enough to be part of the arrival of their first born (now a proud big sister!). It was delightful to capture these precious moments for the family and to see the pictures from our first session being enjoyed around the home.
For newborn sessions I like to create a gentle atmosphere and calm atmosphere. Being in your own home means there is no pressure on time and the session can be enjoyed with plenty of opportunity to rest in-between portraits. As a mother myself I understand how tiring those first few weeks are and not having to travel to your photo shoot is something that I feel is important not only in looking after the new parents and baby but in helping to produce images that are relaxed and natural.
I recommend booking your newborn session as far in advance as possible (usually just after your 20 week scan) and because your baby’s birth date is unpredictable, a time frame will be reserved for you around your due date with arrangements made as soon as possible after the birth of your baby(s). Your newborn session will last between 3 – 4 hours to allow plenty of time soothe / feed your baby and for me to capture a range of portraits that will include, family, parent & baby, newborn on his/her own and detailed shots such as hands & feet.
