It was lovely to return to see this family this week and celebrate the newborn baby boy in this picture turning 1! We had fun session with the now very active one year old and his big brother who is 4. I’ve photographed both boys as newborns and returned several times to document them as they grow which is such a privilege and joy.

With Fathers day fast approaching this is a little shout out to all the Dads out there who do an amazing job. These first precious moments with father and child are just breathtaking, I love how softly he held his precious newborn during our photography session at their home in London SE1.
I was given a very big compliment by one of my Clients recently, she said she loved my newborn photography as the newborn pictures look natural and the parents seems completely at ease with the photographer. I was delighted to think that this came across in my portraits, it is something I always try to achieve during my sessions and I think being in my Clients home and creating a relaxed atmosphere really helps.
I like newborns to fall naturally into their positions with just a little encouragement and nurturing from me. Not all positions are possible during a session, it really does depend on the baby and how they like to be positioned so a lot of it is trying to tune into that and having the experience to handle and gently settle them safely. I have photographed hundreds of babies and newborns over the years so your little ones are in a pair of very safe and experienced hands.
I also remember all too well those early days with my first born, how I felt unsure of the correct ways to hold and settle my baby and the completely overwhelming feeling of love and responsibility I had for her. I hope to ease any anxiety and make the photography session as enjoyable as possible to capture those first precious moments without any pressure on time or travelling to a location.

A sneak peak at a Pregnancy and Newborn Photography session in East Dulwich, SE23
I love using soft elegant silks and fabrics in my maternity portrait sessions and always bring a good selection to every pregnancy shoot. With my portable studio it creates an effortlessly elegant look in beautiful black & white. After a wonderful first session I was excited to return and meet their new baby girl to celebrate her arrival with newborn portraits that compliment the maternity session perfectly.
Incorporating family shots in my newborn sessions is something that I always do as well as capturing the little details, these shots show the first fleeting precious moments when baby is just the right size to fit in the crook of her Daddys arm.
