I first met this stunning ‘Mum to be’ three years ago after her husband brought her a private portrait session with me to celebrate her successful training for a marathon.
Fast forward a few years and I was delighted to be asked to return and capture some very special pregnancy portraits just a few weeks before their baby boy was born.
As part of my bump to baby photography package I usually schedule the maternity photography session for between 32 – 36 weeks and then return once baby is born to capture newborn portraits within the first two weeks after birth. This is when the baby is still very sleepy and newborn, I have some beautiful pictures from their newborn session which I will post a little later.
For now here are the ‘before’ shots taken at their home in Clapham. I love the simplicity of the black & white maternity portraits and how defined the beautiful shape of her bump is in the white silk against my black backdrop.

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this lovely family several times over the years and was delighted to capture this family portrait when I returned recently to meet their newborn baby boy!
All smiles and plenty of giggles from big (little) sis who just adored our photo session and was a natural in front of the camera.
I have some very happy memories capturing these portraits!
and because this one is too gorgeous not to share again, here is the little man close up.
All of my sessions take place in the comfort of your own home with my portable studio, to create classic black & white portraits in the most relaxed and informal setting – your home.
I enjoy getting to know my Clients and capturing precious moments for them which I know will be treasured by the entire family for generations to come. Being one of the first to meet and photograph the newest member of a family and to help celebrate their arrival is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

It’s been a very busy January & February with lots of Pregnancy and Newborn photography sessions across London and I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to meet and connect with so many new parents and their beautiful new arrivals.
It’s wonderful to see that women are increasingly having the confidence to celebrate the beauty of their pregnancy with intimate and unique portraits of their shape. It is one of the most if not the most incredible times in your life, with your baby growing inside you and as you move closer to your due date be it your first, second or third baby it is definitely a time to capture and remember. I recommend booking your session for some time between 32 – 36 weeks when you will have a great shape but still feel comfortable for your portraits, twins can be slightly earlier depending on how you are carrying and feeling. Booking is recommended as soon as possible after your 20 week scan as dates do get booked up quite far in advance particularly for maternity and newborn sessions. I also only take on a limited amount of newborns at one time to allow time to work on each session.
I am so glad I captured both of my pregnancies, the pictures along with my newborn pictures are amoung my most treasured possessions. my first was a complete celebration of my changing body and our changing lives, the excitement and anticipation of meeting our first child and with my second pregnancy it was all about including our daughter with some beautiful shots of us together before her baby brother arrived. She loved the session, we kept it very relaxed and made sure she felt important, we wanted it to be all about her and how she was about to become a big sister.
I’ll be updating my blog with new pictures soon, I’m working through orders at the moment and loving putting the finishing touches to so many beautiful books, frames and digital packages.

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this family several times and was delighted to return recently to welcome their newest member of the family and to see her very lovely older brother again!
He was so proud of his baby sister and absolutely loved having a photography studio set up at his home again to add to the excitement. I made sure there was plenty of time to play in-between set ups whilst we were settling his little sister and included a very special mini photoshoot just for him too.

I love this series of portraits of a radiant expectant mother and her son, taken during their pregnancy and family photography session just weeks before his baby brother arrived.
It was a real treat to see them all again after capturing her first pregnancy and this gorgeous boy when he was just two weeks old! A real privilege to be asked to return for baby number two and as you can see we had lots of fun during our session.
