Family Photography in London

This is a moment captured between a father & his son during a family photography session in London. I wanted to add both of these images to my blog. I love the before and after moment. How they are both so lost in the moment and the natural ease they have with each other. If only the sound of his giggles were recorded as well!

Side by side these two images work beautifully. His little boys face as he receives a kiss from his father in the first portrait and then the gentle snuggling into each other in the second. I absolutely love capturing moments like these. The simplicity of the beautiful black and white portraits draw you into the image. A moment in time captured for them to look back on in years to come.

Family photography at home in London

This photoshoot actually took place at their home to welcome their newborn baby girl into the world. As always with my newborn photoshoots I incorporate lots of time for family photography and of course sibling photography.

When I arrived at their home I received the warmest welcome! I had been lucky enough to photograph their son when he was born and it felt like I was returning to see old friends. We chatted a lot about what we had all been up to. Caught up with a nice cup of tea and it was lovely to see Mum again after all this time with her newborn baby.

It is always wonderful to return to visit a family as they grow. To add pictures to their family albums and to record special times such as the birth of a new member of the family or simply to record the changes in their children.

What stage would you like to photograph?

I am often asked, is it too late? When my Client’s call to book a newborn photoshoot a little later than the recommended first 3 weeks. My answer is it is never too late to capture beautiful images of your children. They are certainly not to big and you have not missed the “window”. The window of time is endless when you want photographs of your family to look back on. The photographs you have then capture that moment in time and will become irreplaceable.

When and how to book a family photoshoot?

Contact me via my booking page and I will be more than happy to help. I would love to hear about your family and arrange a time that is convenient for you all. I will come to your home to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.

Family photography Dulwich

The sweetest big sister photographed at her home in Dulwich with her newborn baby sister.

As a family photographer I am so lucky to get to experience moments like this. Sharing in the joy of a new member of the family. It is the greatest privilege to be invited into the family home to photograph precious moments like these.

When I meet children I want them to feel at ease straight away. My aim is to help everyone to feel relaxed and to ensure the photoshoot is a wonderful experience for the entire family. With an 11 year old daughter myself I felt an instant connection with this little girl. She was natural in front of the camera and with her new baby sister. She became a valued photography assistant!

When I work with older children and newborns it is truly magical. They are able to engage and to hold the new baby with care and ease. We chatted and giggled throughout this photoshoot and it was wonderful to photograph the two sisters together. I can imagine these two being inseparable, can’t you?

The results of this photoshoot took my breath away and it is with thanks to this wonderful little girl for her ease in front of the camera. The family chose a beautiful handmade album with digital images for their favourite pictures. What a true treasure to have!

For details of my family albums, hand crafted frames, cards, prints and professionally prepared digital images, which are all in addition to the session fee, please contact me for a price list.

I would like to thank the family for their wonderful review following our photoshoot!

“Elle is an amazing photographer. She is gentle, kind and professional. She is very good with babies and handled our baby very well. My babies pictures are BEAUTIFUL! Thank you Elle for being a supper photographer!”

Newborn, baby and one-year-old photography London

Newborn, baby and one-year-old photography London

This is one of the most wonderful parts of my work for me. Photographing a little one from newborn to the 6 months to the all-important one-year-old celebration birthday!

I love to create beautiful portraits that capture this incredible time. Perfect to look back on in years to come and to be treasured by all the family.

This series shows some beautiful colour options for your pictures. With each photoshoot I will include a mix of colour with black & white image options. These actually work just as well in black & white as they do in colour but I also love the colour tones in these.

Isn’t it wonderful to see how she changes over the first year. From tiny newborn to sweet smiling baby and beautiful one-year-old girl! I love the picture with her Mum as the final one in this series. For me, the first birthday of my daughter felt like a big celebration. Not just because she had reached one year but because I had made it through all the changes and challenges. I grew so much that year, I think all parents do. You all grow and learn together as a family. The end of the first year is also the new beginning. The start of the next stage and the wonderful toddler years! The chatterbox years and the start of the next big adventure!

If you would like more information please do contact me via my booking enquiry page. I would love to hear from you and discuss what you would like from your photoshoot.

To make life as easy as possible for you I will travel to your home with my portable studio. I have everything that is needed to create a beautiful calm, newborn and family studio in your home.

Capturing moments of joy with family photography in your home

I loved returning to Wimbledon in South West London recently to photograph a family a first met two years ago when they asked me to capture the pregnancy and newborn pictures for their first baby.

This beautiful moment was captured at their home during the newborn photo-shoot for baby number 2! Whilst Dad was soothing and feeding the new arrival I quickly took the opportunity to take some pictures with these two. Making sure they had some special mother/daughter time together. You can see how much fun they were having and how relaxed they both felt in front of the camera. I love that this shines through in the picture.

Family moments

Like most mothers I often feel that I’m not very often in pictures with my children. It is always me after all who is behind the camera making sure I capture all those precious milestones. I love creating a record of my children’s childhood for them to look back on. However, I can’t help but notice how often I hear from my friends and Client’s that there just aren’t enough if any pictures of them with their children.

For this reason, I like to make a point of capturing some special Mum pictures in every photoshoot. After all these are the ones that your children and grandchildren are going to treasure the most.

I would love to hear from you and capture your next milestone for you, please get in touch here

So happy to share a few of these intimate moments from a newborn photography session in Kensington, London.

I love the size of the rose next to her little clenched fist! A reminder of just how tiny and precious she is. The newborn stage is as fleeting as a rose. Our beautiful babies are not little for long and it is as always a privilege to capture this time.

I always recommend capturing family and parent portraits during your photoshoot. Even if you’re not really feeling camera ready. There are often few opportunities to be photographed altogether and these are the pictures your little one will no doubt treasure the most when he / she is grown.

Daddy popped back from work during our photoshoot, giving me enough time to capture these beautiful family and Daddy shots. Some of my favourites from our session.

One of the best parts of my job is the amazing network of families I have had the opportunity to meet over the years. Sharing in one of the most incredibly happy times of their lives. A small moment in time captured forever. I want the memory of the photoshoot itself to be as happy as the pictures.

This week and indeed the next few weeks on the run up to Christmas are some of my busiest yet. I have a packed week of newborn and pregnancy photoshoots. And there will be lots to do to prepare all the orders and images in time for Christmas gifts. I do love this time of year though! Starting with Halloween this week to kick off the festivities! My 8 year old is going to be ‘Moaning Myrtle’ from Harry Potter this year! I’ve never seen someone so in love with their Halloween costume. Any opportunity she gets the Harry Potter cape is back on!

Have a great week everyone!

I’m just loving these family and newborn photographs from one of my recent photoshoot’s in South London. How beautiful is this older brother and his newborn baby sister!

He was just the sweetest boy to photograph. absolutely head over heals in love with his baby sister. I love the way her eyes just opened as I took this shot and caught her smile at her big brother. Just as he kissed her head. It’s beautiful moments like these that make me so happy to be doing the work that I do.

We then did lots of ‘just big brother’ shots whilst baby was being fed. I love this one where he is looking just off camera but has a gorgeous natural smile! We were mid conversation about something and I can’t remember what. I’m always chatting away to my subjects and as I have a nearly 4 year old boy I’m quite up to speed on what’s cool and what’s not. At least I think I am!  So I’m often chatting about Paw Patrol or PJ Masks … I’m an expert on Thomas the Tank Engine!

I was so happy with the results from this session and even more so when Mum was pleased! For me it’s not only the results of the photoshoot that are important to get right but the entire experience. From start to finish I want every moment to be enjoyable and effortless for my Clients.

It’s been a busy few weeks and the run up to Christmas is always extremely busy for me. (Yes preparations start now!). It does seem to get earlier every year but I like to be organised. Ensuring all orders, gift packages, frames and albums are prepared and dispatched in time for the big day! I also have lots of Christmas babies booked in over the festive period which leaves little time free so I have to be super organised. Juggling lots of things is what us mums seem to do best though! It often amazes me how much can be crammed into one day!

With that being said it’s time for me to return to my edits. I have a full day of retouches ahead and then a newborn photoshoot in Balham tomorrow. Then I shall be taking a short break with my little munchkins over half term!

Let the pumpkin picking and carving commence!

I hope you enjoy these and thank you as always for looking.
