Newborn Photographer Bromley

Being asked back to photograph a family for their second newborn photoshoot is always something that feels incredibly special. Knowing that they must truly love their photographs from our first photoshoot together so much that they have asked me back to do it all again is a wonderful feeling.

For our second newborn photography session, when I returned to their home it was like being greeted by old friends! We had lots to catch up on and it was amazing to see how they were getting along as a family.

There is an added ease to these sessions and ultimately a trust between us. A trust that comes when you have worked with a family before and created photographs that they treasure. I love returning to carry on recording their family journey and to add to their much loved gallery of family portraits.

Newborn & sibling photography at home

When photographing a newborn baby with an older sibling the timing and organisation of the photoshoot is key. Before our at home newborn photography session I will discuss the best time of day with the parents to ensure I can fit in with their normal routine and arrive at a time of day that is ultimately best for their eldest child. before the photoshoot I will provide plenty of tips and advice to help everything run smoothly.

It is also worth noting that these photoshoots do take longer than a single newborn photography session as I will allow extra time for the additional shots. As well as all the usual time for the newborn photographs I would normally take.

Do you charge extra to include sibling portraits?

No I don’t. I actually include parent and family portraits and even additional members of the family without any additional charge. I have one standard fee for newborn photography and family photoshoots. This fee is for my time and I don’t add on extra even when the photoshoot will take more time.

How long will our photoshoot take?

Well this will depend on your new baby of course! It is impossible to predict how long the photoshoot will take as there are many factors involved. I don’t like to rush. For this reason I only book one newborn photoshoot per day. This will allow me to work around you as a family without the pressure of rushing off to my next photoshoot.

On average I would say allow three hours for a newborn photography session.

Do you cover all of London?

I am very happy to travel and I currently cover London, Surrey, Essex and Kent. I have photoshoots regularly in Bromley, Chislehurst, Beckenham, Greenwich, Blackheath, Dulwich, Brockley, Lewisham, Orpington, Sidcup, Croydon, Sevenoaks, Clapham, Wandsworth, Battersea, Balham, Pimlico, London Bridge, Bermondsey, Kensington, Chelsea, Islington, Westminster, Hampstead, Primrose Hill, Notting Hill, Camden, Maida Vale, Marylebone, Knightsbridge, Woolwich, Mitcham, Oxshott and many more areas.

Black & White Newborn Photography

Black & White Newborn Photography

A short post today as I am rushing around a little between photoshoots this week. I just had to share a beautiful black & white newborn photograph from a recent photoshoot in London.

There is such a pure and classic feel to black & white newborn photography. I love the simplicity of these images. The gentle way it draws you in with a feeling of calm and serenity. I have used a soft cream fabric backdrop for this newborn portrait along with delicate handmade angora shorts. Which I bring to all my newborn baby photoshoots in London, Kent and Surrey.

There is nothing to distract from the perfect details of the newborn baby. The only focus is the baby in the photograph which is exactly how I wanted the finished image to look. A baby portrait like this will look incredible enlarged and framed on the wall so that you can see all the beautiful little details. The soft fuzz of newborn baby hair that stands up on the top of her head, the little folds in her back, the tiny button nose and that little pouting mouth. It gives me sucha. great pleasure to capture these details for the new parents to treasure.

Newborn photography in East London

The happiest newborn photography session in East London! Just look at that little smile and not to mention the kiss curl on the top of her head! She is like a drawing of a baby and this photograph makes me smile so much. It also reminds me of my daughter at this age who also had the most adorable little curl. Her Daddy loved to carefully style on the top of her head. She now has many, many curls of course not just the one which she started with!

As a photographer whenever a baby smiles during a photoshoot it is like pure magic! You know when the shutter has clicked at just the right moment. it’s a wonderful feeling to know that something so special has been frozen in time.

Photographing newborn babies is truly one of the most rewarding experiences. It is also one that requires patience and consideration to the family you are with. This comes naturally but also improves with time. Understanding the different families that you meet and how they are feeling after the birth of their baby. Each photoshoot is unique which is what makes my work so completely interesting and fulfilling.

Do you ever have a very unsettled baby?

This is a question that I am asked a lot. I often sense if a new parent is feeling anxious about this when I arrive. It is completely natural, especially if you’ve had an unsettled night with your newborn baby. My answer is always the same “we have time” . Because I come to your home and I am arriving in a relaxed and calm manner with a very flexible mind the answer is always “we have time”. There will sometimes be moments when your baby is a little unsettled of course. I wouldn’t expect anything else. This is natural at this early stage (or any stage!) and I would never expect the new family or baby to be ready for me when I arrive.

I am there to work around you and your needs. I will photograph family moments when your baby wants to be held and patiently wait whilst your baby is fed and settled so that I can then carefully capture those beautiful sleepy poses. Awake shots are also wonderful too like this happy baby photographed at her home in East London.

With over 12 years experience working with babies I have learnt to follow the lead of the baby. I feel I can respond to how they are when I settle them and their comfort and safety is always my priority. This approach really helps me to capture beautiful natural portraits.

I am always happy to chat to you in more detail to explain how I work. for newborn photography enquiries please contact me here

Newborn Photographer Chelsea & Kensington London

As a newborn photographer I am so lucky to be able to spend my weeks photographing incredible babies in and around London.

I work in all areas of London and regularly travel to Chelsea & Kensington for baby, newborn, family and children photoshoots on a weekly basis. With lots of families that I return to year after year to add to their growing gallery of family portraits. Working in colour and black & white photography allows me to produce a variety of beautiful images for families to choose from.

My portable studio, lighting and suitcase of delicate baby outfits enables me to work freely and produce natural portraits. I love to create images that celebrate the sweet little details and feature of your newborn.

When I first began as a newborn photographer I was myself a new Mum. I can remember every moment of those first weeks clearly. As a new Mum I remember feeling completely overwhelmed. It was in a way wonderful exhaustion. Like all new Mums I needed time to recover and adjust to being a parent. To be looked after and to look after our new baby in the comfort of our own home.

This was one of the key factors in deciding that I wanted to bring my photography into the homes of the families I photograph. There is enough to do and to learn as a new parent. If I can make one thing easier for you and help to create an experience that you will remember as joyful then that is what I want to do!

Over the past 12 years I have gained so much knowledge & experience as a newborn, baby & family photographer. (As I write 12 years – I can’t actually believe I have been doing it that long!). Every photoshoot I do feels as new and fresh as the last. With each family I meet bringing a unique perspective to the work I do. I can’t imagine ever doing anything else.

Booking your newborn photoshoot

If possible I recommend booking before your baby is born. This is a great way to ensure that I will be able to fit you into my diary during those first few weeks. When you book I will make a note of your due date and reserve a time period around that date. Then I will wait for you to contact me after the birth to arrange a convenient date for your photoshoot.

There is never any pressure to reserve the “correct date” for your newborn photoshoot. I want to ensure that the entire experience is relaxing and enjoyable from start to finish. I have photographed new babies as late as 6 weeks before and the results are just as beautiful as at 2 or 3 weeks old. It has to be what you are comfortable with and when you feel ready as a family.

Can I make late bookings?

Late bookings are also possible! I often have calls from parents when their babies have arrived or even when they are already two or three weeks old. I will always try to fit you into my diary as soon as there is space available. Please don’t worry or think it is too late to book. Whenever you choose to have professional baby photography it will be worth it to capture them as they are at that moment in time.

For more details and my full pricing list please contact me via my booking page: Make a Booking

Email is the best way to contact me as I find it hard to answer calls in the day. I am often busy at a photoshoot, dashing back to collect my children from school or cooking them dinner! I am always happy to chat by email initially and then arrange a convenient time to have a chat over the phone.

Newborn Baby Photographer Dulwich

Newborn Baby Photographer Dulwich

As it is close to Easter I thought I would share this darling picture of a newborn baby girl with my little hand knitted bunny! Isn’t it sweet the way her face is turned upwards towards the bunny, as if she is about to give him a little kiss or share a secret or two!

I believe that newborn photography should be simple and natural. I tend not to use too many props in my photographs but I’m not against a sweet little hat, headband or sweet little toy to add to the image. In this case it’s a little bunny! I have a suitcase of newborn accessories that I bring to each photoshoot. Everything I use is handmade and made with the softest, gentlest wools to ensure comfort for your newborn. many of you ask where I buy my wonderful outfits and little toys and I’m happy to be able to share the details with you! I can’t recommend her enough! Everything I use is from the wonderful and very talented Knitlandia

Please do check out her Etsy page. Each item is handmade to order so you do have to wait whilst she works her magic. It’s well worth the wait!

The start of this year has been incredible. I can’t believe how many babies I have already photographed and we are only a quarter through the year! I will be sharing more on my blog and instagram / facebook pages when I have a few moments. I’m incredibly grateful to the families I have met so far. It is wonderful to be invited into their homes at such a special time. Here are a few of the kind words I’ve received so far this year: Elle Fallon Reviews

Thank you for looking, I hope to meet you & your family soon!

Wishing you all a very happy Spring break!

Newborn Photography Greenwich SE10

It is always a pleasure to be asked to photograph a newborn baby in London and I loved heading over to Greenwich SE10 for this newborn photography session. Greenwich is one of my favourite pockets of London and holds many memories for me with my own children. From marching round Greenwich park to get them to sleep in their buggies when they were tiny babies. To flying kites in the park and playing in the playground. Not forgetting of course many an afternoon spent in the National Maritime Museum with the countless things to do and see!

I love the view across London from the top of the park and then running down the hill with my children! We recently visited the painted Hall to see Gaia which was absolutely incredible! Definitely worth a visit if there is still time and to enjoy London as it slowly reopens.

I’ve just been putting the finishing touches to a beautiful handmade frame for this one and his family. I love this shot that they chose amoung others for their bespoke album, frame and digital image package. I just love cherished moments like these, pictures that will bring the family so much happiness over the coming years.
